FTA Membership

The Federation of Tax Advisors (FTA) is the modern membership body for agents who provide tax compliance and planning expertise to SMEs and entrepreneurs. They support their members, who work in business and in practice, with information, professional qualifications, training, online forums, as well as opportunities to exchange leads, or enjoy seminars and networking opportunities at events staged by our UK branch network.

Founded in 1997, the FTA aims to provide taxpayers with security when dealing with a tax agent. Since 2009, they have been part of the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA), the leading global non-chartered body for accounting and finance specialists working in the SME space. Their role within the IFA is that of its tax faculty.

FTA members are bound to uphold the highest standards of conduct and confidentiality, and undertake continuing professional development (CPD) activities to stay up-to-date with tax law and with best practice in advisory services. When you engage one of our members, be reassured that your tax affairs will be dealt with competently.

The FTA publish a wealth of tax-related material for SMEs, their heads of finance and their owners. Keep pace with rule changes, developments in reporting frameworks and implementation deadlines with regular technical updates.
