DRAGON’S DEN INVESTOR THEO PAPHITIS RECEIVES PRESTIGOUS IFA AWARD

 

The winners of the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) Achievement Awards have been revealed including renowned entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.

 

Dragon’s Den investor Theo Paphitis receives the Contributing to UK Enterprise Award for his outstanding support of small business owners and entrepreneurs.

 

Following an intensive day of interviewing, the judging panel of professionals and academics from the business and finance sectors selected 18 top people and companies in accountancy and financial management for demonstrating personal achievement and success in business.

 

The winners are:

      Theo Paphitis  - Contributing to UK Enterprise Award

Balbir Panesar - Business Entrepreneur of the Year

Duncan Walker - Accountancy Practice of the Year

Andy Page - Social Entrepreneur of the Year

Sheila Rigg, Conisborough Community Centre – Social Enterprise of the Year

Louise Evans - Outstanding Student of the Year

Tony Surridge - Lecturer/Tutor of the Year

City College Plymouth - Top Centre of the Year

   

 

The judging panel included IFA Chief Executive, David Woodgate, Kevin Kinsella from Kinsella Tax, Gina Hall from Vantis plc and Nicole Johnson from Wolters Kluwer. There were also representatives from the Forum for Private Business, Lloyds TSB, Companies House, the National Enterprise Network, the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance and DoYCI.

 

The judges were very impressed by the quality of candidates, Kevin Kinsella of Kinsella Tax said, ‘“I was delighted to be asked to be on the panel of judges for the categories for Best Accountancy Practice & Business Entrepreneur. The finalists were all of a very high calibre and, even though difficult decisions had to be made, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”

 

Designed to share good practice, celebrate finance and enterprise and highlight positive role models, the Awards ceremony will be held at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens on the 14th October from 12.00 – 2.30pm.

 

Prize winners will be presented with their awards by the IFA’s top tax, accountancy and government partners: Wolters Kluwer, Kinsellas, Vantis and Companies House.

 

 

Jenny McDowell , External Affairs Manager for Lloyds TSB – Commercial commented on judging  the Outstanding Student of the Year award, "Outstanding student really does mean outstanding, not just technically, that's just for starters. They have also gone the extra mile, displaying desire, determination and dedication in pursuit of their goal."

 

Top recruitment agencies and business media will also be recognised for achieving excellence in their fields at the Awards ceremony when the Recruitment Agency of the Year and Business Media of the Year will be announced.
