The professional tax adviser (unified IFA / FTA syllabus)
The aim of this exam-based qualification is to develop an understanding of the structure and operation of the principal systems of UK taxation.

Examination sittings for this syllabus take place in June and December – further details and registration dates are available from our examination timetable.

FTA exams can be taken at either:

  • one of our accredited training providers; for details click here; or
  • at a Pitman training centre; to find your local centre, click here.

You need to contact the local centre to arrange the exam sitting with them (and pay the necessary centre fees) before you can sit your exam.

On successful completion of this qualification, you will become an associate member of the FTA. Eligibility to renew your membership after the initial two years is dependent upon your having obtained the following IFA module:
