Coronavirus update for IFA Direct students

We can confirm that the IFA Direct modules will continue during this period and there will be no break in availability.

If you are intending to book modules starting on 21 September 2020 these will continue as normal. If you are unable to take your assessment at the centre, CU Coventry will arrange for you to take your assessment online at home.

If you have any queries with regard to your tuition or taking your assessment please do not hesitate to contact Susan Dival at education@ifa.org.uk or the CU Coventry online team at cug.online@cuc.coventry.ac.uk.

We are here to help and support you.

Take the next steps in your career by setting up your own practice. Gaining IFA Associate membership means you are eligible to apply for an IFA practising certificate.

Holding a practising certificate means you can do more than with many other associations and professional bodies. You’ll be able to undertake:

  • Tier 1 Visa application (UK Border Agency)
  • Charity independent examinations
  • ATOL/Civil Authority work.

A wide range of banks and building societies also accept reports signed by IFA practising members.

To be eligible to apply for a practising certificate there are up to 10 modules to complete:

103 Principles of taxation
104 Credit management and control
107 Financial statements, internal controls and systems in a business environment
108 Budgeting in a business environment
201 Management information
203 Law for accounting
208 Business finance
209 Financial reporting
301 Assurance
302 Advanced taxation

If you are an existing member of the IFA we will need to review your qualifications to ensure that they meet our new criteria for a practising certificate.

Setting up in tax practice

Take the next steps in your career by setting up your own tax practice. Gaining IFA Associate Tax Adviser membership means you are eligible to apply for an IFA practising certificate.

Among the benefits are:

  • Recognition for the taxation services you provide to the public.
  • Offering tax advice and expertise.
  • Appearing on our Find an Accountant register.

To be eligible to apply for tax adviser membership and a tax practising certificate there are up to two modules to complete or you will need to provide evidence of having completed equivalent modules:

103 Principles of taxation
302 Advanced taxation

If you are an existing IFA Tax Adviser member we will need to review your qualifications to ensure that they meet the new criteria for a tax practising certificate.

Cost per module

Each module costs £770 which includes the student registration fee and all the features detailed.

Payment plan

We understand that sometimes it’s difficult to cover the cost of professional development. That’s why we offer a bespoke flexible interest-free payment plan that lets you pay for your studies in instalments prior to registration deadlines, meaning you can focus on your learning.

Please contact the education team at education@ifa.org.uk for further information.

"The IFA Direct programme is the lifeblood of our practice in the future. I have taken the lead in the practice but several of my daughters (who work with me) have expressed they also need to consider succession planning in that the good name of the practice must have continuity after I retire."
