Members
The Institute recognises there are many ways of acquiring knowledge and proving competence which may be proven in different ways. As a consequence IFA provides three flexible routes to membership:
- By IFA qualification
- By exemption, where recognition is given to other relevant qualifications already held
- By accreditation of prior learning, where workplace experience is evaluated (available in the UK only).
The Institute provides four levels of membership. This flexibility enables access at an appropriate level depending upon qualifications and experience.
IFA members are required to abide by its Code of Ethics (code adopted from IFAC – the International Federation of Accountants). Participation in continuous professional development (CPD) is also promoted.
Members conducting certain types of business or work may also require an IFA Practicing Certificate.
IFA membership levels are available as follows:
- Financial Accounting Executive
- Associate
- Fellow
