Accountability, Decision-making and Empowerment | 12 September
In today's fast-moving world, many organisations are making decisions more slowly than ever. The problem is rarely process—it's unclear ownership, risk-averse behaviours and too many decision-making forums. Effective organisations create clear decision rights, defined success criteria and firm deadlines, enabling leaders to act with confidence rather than continually revisiting the same issues. Drawing on military decision-making principles and 15 years of commercial consulting, this session explores practical ways to improve decision velocity while maintaining accountability. Most importantly, sustainable empowerment comes from developing leaders, building trust and creating the capability for people to make sound decisions—not simply telling them they are empowered.

Chris Paton
