Our Charity series is made up of two webinars for those wishing to build a better understanding of accounting and tax matters specific to charities.

Charity accounting

We will look at all aspects of charity accounting, identifying differences with the standard accounting framework as it applies to commercial entities. This will include the requirements of both the Companies and Charities Acts and the SORP. The session will include practical examples and end with a brief look at external examination of charity accounts and an update on the new Charity SORP.

Charity tax

During this webinar we will look at all major taxes, covering the specific rules, allowances and exemptions applying to charities. This will include any significant changes in the past 12 months. The session will assume a working knowledge of the tax system generally, but not as it applies to the charitable sector.

The following areas of taxation will be covered:

  • Income tax and corporation tax
  • VAT
  • Gift Aid
  • Inheritance tax
