IFA Council and sub-committees

IFA Council

As of October 2025, the Members Advisory Committee (MAC) changed its name to the IFA Council.

The IFA Council serves as a group to provide insight, feedback and recommendations to the Executive Director – UK and IFA Board on matters affecting members, the accounting profession, and the Institute.

The IFA Council ensures that the voice of the membership is considered in strategic planning, service development, and policy formulation.

The IFA Council has four objectives:

  1. To represent the diverse views and needs of members.
  2. To provide input on government, regulators and other relevant consultations.
  3. To support initiatives that enhance member growth, member value and IFA Direct development.
  4. To function as a sounding board for innovative programmes, partnerships and innovations.

The IFA Council meets quarterly, and the chairperson of the IFA Council is an IFA Board Director.

At present the IFA Council comprises a chairperson, IFA regional ambassadors and two IFA Award winners (IFA Emerging Professional of the Year and an IFA member from the IFA Practice of the Year). From autumn 2026 members will be appointed through an open nomination process.

IFA sub-committees

To reflect the desire of the IFA to engage and work with emerging professionals and women in accountancy, we are establishing two sub-committees:

  • IFA Women in Accountancy
  • IFA Emerging Professionals

The sub-committees will meet quarterly and feed into the IFA Council.
