The client is a coffee beans, coffee machines and various coffee accessories importer based in Southampton and sells their products online via their webstore.
Their clients vary from private individuals to SMEs and large retailers, and they have their in-house buying team managing the relationships with various manufactures such as Nespresso, Lavazza and local coffee bean farmers.
Their aim is to provide their clients with the best coffee experience.
Specific challenge:
• Making payments overseas but taking profit in the UK
• Long lead times for goods to arrive with a prepayment required
• Competitive business environment with little room for price adjustments
• Fluctuating prices
Our approach:
Clearview FX provided an external treasury service that:
• Audited previous FX transactions to identify improvements and target savings.
• Created a bespoke currency risk strategy, utilising forward contracts to enable Espressopedia Ltd to lock in their profit margin from the outset.
• Removed payment charges of GBP 20 per international wire.
• Freed up the time from the Finance Department by taking over the international payments side of the business.
Value delivered:
• Espressopedia can now plan for much longer without having to adjust prices nor compromising their profit margin
• Savings in excess of GBP 10,000.00 on just FX transactions and fees for 2023 were delivered
• The business can offer their products cheaper than their competitors by utilising the bespoke risk mitigating strategies implemented
• Proactiveness with their dedicated Account Manager and Dealer has resulted in FX gains by executing trades at favourable levels
