IFA Disciplinary Conduct Committees – Lay Members and Accountant Members wanted

JULY 2026
If an organisation is to have credibility in the mind of the public, then it must have independent and transparent regulation of its Members. The IFA has effective systems in place through its three Conduct Committees to ensure there is a proper balance between protecting the public interest and the support of IFA Members.
We are now looking to appoint new Conduct Committee members (both accountant members and Lay (non - accountant)) who understand our commitment to excellence, fairness both to the public and to members, and who are passionate about raising the standards of self-regulation.
Accountant Members/Lay Members
The IFA is seeking to appoint in total 2 Accountant Members and 2 Lay (non-accountant) Members to the Conduct Committees. Successful candidates are required to have:
- strong board or committee experience;
- relevant understanding of the professional regulation;
- appreciation of the services provided by IFA members and the contribution of an accountancy professional body to society; and
- commitment to upholding high professional standards.
Familiarity with the current IFA Bye-Laws, Disciplinary Regulations and IESBA Code of Ethics, and other regulations is desirable; all of which are on the IFA’s website: IFA bye-laws and regulations
The Conduct Committees are usually held online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams and when appropriate in the IFA office in Farringdon, London. There is no guaranteed minimum number of sitting days for either appointment. Chairs and Members receive a daily fee per meeting/hearing and training and travel and subsistence costs.
The appointments will be for a period of five years, and shall be eligible for reappointment, up to a maximum period of ten years in total. These appointments are independent of the Board and the IFA. Therefore, current or previous IFA and IPA Board members and current or previous IFA or IPA staff cannot apply.
