The IPA Group and ISIA join forces to elevate the accounting profession in the Pacific.
At recent meetings and events held in Honiara, Solomon Islands, The Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) and the Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote the interests of its respective members and the accounting profession globally.
This follows on from the historic strategic partnership formed in May 2022 between the two Professional Accounting Organisations (PAOs) in collaboration with Monarch Institute, which has seen the joint delivery of ISIA’s first-ever professional qualification programme and 39 students graduating from the pilot program at a ceremony held in Honiara, Solomon Islands on 11 September 2023.
The Professional Diploma of Accounting has been well received locally, and a second cohort of over 80 students is currently undertaking the second pilot.
The IPA Group Chief Executive Officer Andrew Conway said the memorandum demonstrates IPA’s continued commitment to the accounting profession.
“This MoU seeks to further deepen the relationship between the two organisations through reciprocal recognition, membership and education pathways, which will provide opportunities for members in the region and more broadly through the IPA Group globally,” he said.
Pamela Alamu, ISIA Chief Executive Officer, said she was delighted to enter the second formal relationship with the IPA Group.
“It is clear that the IPA Group and ISIA are well aligned to ensure that our members continue to grow and develop,” she said.
“This MoU provides us with a pathway and opportunities for further educational benefit.”
Australia and the Solomon Islands are neighbours and long-time friends. The IPA Group is committed to capacity building, promoting and supporting the accounting profession in the Asia-Pacific.
