Complaint

The IFA alleged that Mr Mehmud Nathu as sole principal and director of Abacus Accounting & Payroll Services Ltd is liable to disciplinary action under IFA Bye-law 11.2(c) in that he failed to carry out client risk assessments in accordance with MLR 2017 Regulation 27 – 28; and has breached subsection R115.1 of the fundamental principle of 'Professional Behaviour' in the Code of Ethics which imposes an obligation on all professional accountants ‘to comply with relevant laws and regulations and avoid any conduct that the accountant knows or should know might discredit the profession’.

Finding 

The Disciplinary Committee found the matters proved. 

Sentencing order

Removed permanently from the IFA’s register of members, fine of £4,000 and costs of £5,733.
